[SOLVED] Payload Post Time

I am a new Ubidots user. As part of my learning process, I am running the example Python script on a Raspberry Pi 4. At the beginning of a payload post, there is a message saying “Attempting to send data” and at the end of the post another message saying “finished.” The time between those two messages is about 2 minutes which leaves no time for data capture and prep. What am I missing?

Greetings, I am not sure what example you are following as you did not post any information about it, but I would advise you to use the docs examples that have been tested during years and proved to work without issues.

All the best

Hey @W6LVP,

Welcome to Ubidots!

I performed a quick test to verify the functioning of the code provided in the guide you are following. Fortunately, everything is working correctly, as you can see in the attached image the time it takes between each message is 1 second.

I recommend you check the internet connection of your Raspberry Pi, and at the same time follow the recommendation of my colleague Jose.

Cheers,

Many thanks to you and Jose for your responses. You are right, the problem is related to my Internet connection - perhaps something in my router. I ran the test program using my phone as a hotspot and get the same 1 second response time you did.

For all other Internet activities including HTTP, UDP, and FTP, I have no problem. At least I now know where to look and this is not something related to Ubidots.

You know when you call your Internet Service Provider with a problem and their annoying first response is to tell you to unplug your modem and router, wait 30 seconds, and then power them back up. I rebooted (cycled the power) on my router and the posting delay went way. Go figure.

Thanks again.

Larry

Hey Larry,

I’m glad you identified the problem presented. Best wishes for the projects you have in mind. :sunglasses:
