Hello all,
This question didn’t show up in the search results. I want to plot temperature and humidity data on my dashboard, preferably in the same chart. How do I create a chart with a common X-axis (time) but multiple Y-axes? This is a basic thing but I can’t find it anywhere.
Hi you can do this but only with only one Y axis. In your dashboard, add a line chart widget, then “Add variable” and select your variable. Then do the same for the second variable.
Well that’s not really what I wanted. So the answer is “no”.
by the way, 2 variables (esp. ones which have different units) on the same Y-axis is completely stupid - it makes no sense at all. What does “20 deg C” temperature have to do with say “15%” humidity?. That’s why dual-axes graphs are used. This is such a basic feature that I’m perplexed why Ubidots doesn’t offer it.
Right, the answer is “no”.
The current feature is quite useful for variables of the same type, for example for comparing several temperatures. I will do a Feature Request
Yes, but that’s a single variable, multiple series. Nothing to do with my original question.
I would find a 2nd resp. secondary y-scale useful as well:
In my case two variables with very different scale shall be plotted in one chart to show how they interact.
A second y-scale for the 2nd dataset on the right side of the plot-window would be great (see Excel - secondary y-axis)
e.g.: Temperature-plot on 1st y-axes with data around ambient [°C - MIN:MAX = -10°C:+50°C]
AND Switching aof AirCon / Heating with boolean data = Switch Status 0/1 on secondary scale [MIN:MAX = 0:1]
Can we put this as a feature request, please?
@JLeib thank you for your constructive and respectful request. We’ll prioritize the development of this widget and get back to you when it’s ready.
