[SOLVED] IEC 61850 & critical facilities

Hello, my name is Miguel, I am a student of electrical engineering. I am working on my final degree project and I would like to ask you some questions about your platform (the ass seems fantastic to me).

Is the iEEC61850 protocol compatible?

What security does it offer to work in critical installations such as electrical substations?

I think it would be great to integrate ubidots in Industry 4.0, specifically in power lines and power substations and power plants.

thank you very much

Greetings

Greetings Miguel, allow me to answer your questions:

Is the iEEC61850 protocol compatible?

As that protocol is Machine to Machine, it makes no sense that you expect a direct integration using a cloud-based platform. When you are attempting to send data to the cloud retrieved using M2M protocols like RS-232, Modbus, and so on, you will always need a gateway that communicates with your machine and then redirects the data using a valid cloud protocol like HTTP, MQTT, TCP or UDP. Find below a high-level architecture to do this:

I am not sure about what sort of security are you asking for, if it is about data security, please refer to this article.

All the best
