Ubidots Stem Events reliability question

Hi,

I have connected a device that sends data to Ubidots. This is working fine.
There is one variable that can switch from 0 to 1 to raise an alarm. So I have created an event that monitors this variable, and when the variable is set to one:

  • an email is sent
  • the variable is reset (by the event)

Now, this has worked fine during my initial tests for a couple of days until this morning.
The variable value is 1 (and has been 1 for the last half hour), but the event seems not to have triggered, so my alarm system is stuck here.

This is my event:

This is my variable set to 1:

In this case, was the event trigger lost forever, or is there a mechanism that can re-trigger it?
How can I make this alarm go out in a reliable way?

Gracias!
Gustavo.

Good day @gusgonnet,

Thank you for sharing your questions with us.

Can you please advise the event so I can review why the event didn’t trigger the alert?

Now, the Ubidots event engine works as the following way, after an alert is triggered, meaning the condition was met, subsequent values will not be triggered the event again, even if they comply with the trigger conditions. The event will be trigger only after the values return below the threshold and exceed the threshold again, as show in the following image.

You can find more information about Ubidots events in the following article.

I will be attentive to your response.

All the best,
-Isabel

hola Isabel,

what information do you need from the event? thanks

yes, the same trigger is setting the variable to 0 as soon as a 1 is received, so I think it always comes back to normal. The device reports every 5 minutes so I do not think there is a race condition.

thanks!
Gustavo.

Thank you for your prompt response @gusgonnet.

The name of the event would be fine.

Best,
-Isabel

thanks @isalogi

I think the name is movement email, correct?

Hi again @gusgonnet,

Can you please let me know your account username?, as I found one under the username gusgonnet, but it is an inactive account.

Thank you,
-Isabel

Hi @isalogi any news about the investigation as to why the event never triggered?
I sent details of the account via a private message to you.
Thanks
Gustavo.

Hi @gusgonnet,

Thank you for sharing with me the account username, I was able to review the event and I already reported the case with our Dev team. Please receive our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and I will let you know as soon as I have an update.

Best,
-Isabel

Hi Isabel,
I was wondering if the ticket got an answer.
Thanks,
Gustavo.

Hi @gusgonnet,

Please receive my apologies for the late response. The ticket is already assigned to one of our team members, which is reviewing the case to determine what could have happened. As we weren’t able to replicate the behavior from our side and there isn’t any ongoing issue with the events module. I hope to have an update the next week.

All the best,
-Isabel
